WW2 Soviet Russian Order Of The Red Star res. Combat Medic

For sale is a researched ww2 Soviet Order of the Red Star that has been fully researched, awarded to Jr. Lt. Ivan Nikiforovich Likhachev on July 11, 1944. At the time of awarding, Likhachev was a medic platoon commander – 908 rifle regiment. 246 rifle division. He served in the Red Army from 1940/41 through the end of the war, and was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class in May 1945.

 

He took part in the combat operations for breaking through German defences near the towns Dmitrov-Orlovsky and Sevsk.

Together with his rifle battalion, he force crossed the rivers Desna, Snov, Sozh, and Dnieper.

During the period of the Summer offensive in 1943, comrade LIKHACHEV and his platoon evacuated over 600 wounded troops from the forward combat line and rendered them first medical aide in the field. During the March offensive in 1944 near the villages Pidberiztsi, Stare Zaliztsi, Trostyanets’, and Bilokrynytsya, he rendered first medical aide and evacuated over 150 wounded troops.

In the combat engagement on 08.06.1944, as always, he was striving to provided medical aid as soon as possible to the wounded. He personally supervised evacuation from the battlefield and, having provided them first medical aide, immediately transported the wounded to the battalions medical point.

He deserves state award medal “RED STAR”.

The scans of documentation shown are from the soldier archives in Moscow – a cleric worker there looked up the award’s serial number and pulled all records attributed to Ivan Likhachev’s Order of the Red Star citation, and provided an English translation summarizing available information. The physical documents remain there but upon request we can email you the documentation and translation provided to us (all shown in photos).

The award itself is salty and combat worn. The silver is tarnished, ruby enamel has damage to the left and right “arms” of the star. You can see loss of detail on the soldier and text from wear. This order was worn on his uniform in combat from the time Likhachev was awarded it through to the end.
