French WWI original M2 gasmak and bag

Really nice and original French WWI M2 gas mask with carrying bag. Mask is soft but I won’t try to wear it! The horizon blue metal ring holding the glasses make it one of the early pattern of the 2nd model as they swap to mustard/khaki later on. A really hard to get example of WWI gas-mask. An extra glass is included in the bag pocket specially design for this purpose.

Proposed in 1915 by René Louis Gravereaux of Paris. The first M2 model was produced in only one size and often incurred damage when it was folded for placement in a metal container. A second model introduced in April 1916 was produced in three different sizes and included two separate eyepieces, so folding it would not cause damage. The second model was used between May and November 1916 and used as late as August 1918. The glasses were held in place by a metal ring on each eyehole, at first this metal ring was horizon blue and then in msutard/kaki color (mid 17), this one having the HB color metal ring make it an early one.
